Nilurkhamar killing spot at Santoshpur union under Nageswari
Foundation of a memorial in Nilurkhamar killing spot (Baddhabhumi) during the liberation war’71 was set up at Nilurkhamar village of Santoshpur union under Nageswari upazila of Kurigram district after 43 years of the liberation war.
The district unit of Sammilito Sangaskritik Jot (a cultural organisation) laid down the foundation for memorial in the killing spot and organised locals and freedom fighters to attend in the function.  
A memorial discussion, presided by the unit convener Shemol Bhaumik, was held there after seating up a temporary memorial on December 7 to observe the 6th December as ‘Kurigram Free Day’.
Among others, Deputy Commander of the district muktijodya sangshad unit Aminul Islam, freedom fighter Harun Ar Rashid Lal, freedom fighter and the district awami league president Aminul Islam Manju Mandol, President of the district ghatak dalal nirmul committee Jothi Ahmed, Nageswari muktijodya sangshad unit commander Abu Bakar and Santoshpur union chairman Liakat Ali spoke in the discussion while about two hundred people including martyrs’ relatives and students were present.   
The speakers said Pakistani Army with the help of their agents Razakar and Al-Badar men attacked on innocent people of Nilurkhamar village at night on November 17, 1971 and brutally killed 79 people within about one hour as the village was a scattered camp of freedom fighters. Later they were buried in an earth-ditch in the village.  
“No initiative by government or non-government has been taken for seating up a memorial in Nilurkhamar killing spot (Baddhabhumi) before this. After 43 years of our liberation, at first we have taken initiative of setting up a memorial. The construction will be completed within one year,” said the convener Shemol Bhaumik.
